NO from Tokyo was here on business and made time to visit us so we took him for a canyon ride. 

10月1日。東京からNビー氏がお仕事でいらしていて時間を作ってチャボに寄ってくださったので山へ。

we totally forgot that today was Saturday. our favorite winding road was too trafficky by weekenders. oh, well.

土曜日だということをすっかり忘れていた。お気に入りの山道は平日とは打って変わって交通量が多くて、ちっとも滑走できなかった。まあ、仕方ないか。次回はぜひ平日に！

seems like shinya has returned to work. oh, wait. it's a Honda XR185. "it's for you!" he said. he calls it "transition and healing process", one of the aftereffects of the Cannonball... before we go back to our ordinary life from an extraordinary life, we need some time and rehab.

10月2日。キャノンボールボケからいよいよ仕事に復帰した木村氏。と思いきや・・・いじっているのはホンダのXR185改200ではないか！「XL100じゃ力がなさ過ぎて気の毒だから・・・」筆者のトレイル用にと称して、チャボにあるものを組み合わせてごにょごにょ。本当の仕事に戻る前にこういうクッション的作業がどうしても必要になってくる。そう、キャノンボールの後遺症のひとつでもある非現実から現実へ戻るためリハビリ。

at #12. Wata is busy making a roll cage for the Camaro project.

さて、12番にて。急遽キャマロに搭載することになったロール・ケージをせっせと制作中のWタナベ氏をそーっと覗いてみる。

he has been working really hard these days and the Camaro project is coming along. he finally got his own pace so we try to stay out of his hair and root for him because we know how hard it is to regain momentum. 

最近かなりペースをアップして順調にキャマロ・プロジェクトを進めているWタナベ氏。せっかくいい感じのノリノリの流れを乱さないように雑用や遊びの誘いを控えて応援しようと思う。良い流れって一回止まっちゃうとまた流すの大変だもの。

at #7. shinya's rehab is almost done :D

こちらは7番。そろそろリハビリも終了・・・かな？

Spike: last-minutes frame welding...

it happens. found a crack on the frame at the last moment. it's way better to find it now than on the salt flats ;P

出発間際にスパイクのフレームにクラック発見。ギリギリ溶接。ま、今見つかったほうが塩湖で見つかるより100倍いいよねー。貧乏レーサーあるある。

 at #12. the owner meets his Camaro turbo for the first time and he seems happy :)

12番にて。キャマロのオーナーIトウ氏がご自分のキャマロと初対面。

みんなで鑑賞中。

Wata is very lucky to have great clients in Japan like this owner. they give him opportunities to build something old but cool and fast which he loves to do the most.

このように、「何かカッコイイの作ろう」とか「速いの作ってレースしよう」とか今までやったことのないようなチャンスを与えてくれる素晴らしい人々に囲まれているWタナベ氏。本当に恵まれているしありがたいこと。どうせなら、とことん自分の好きな旧い乗り物をいじって、そういうのを一緒に楽しめる人達と残り少なくなり始めている時間を使いたいものですね。

 okay, put the final touches on Sepia and wrap up.

細かいところを仕上げて、そろそろ準備完了なるか。

now Sepia is done and shinya was retightening everything on Spike. then the one of the transmission screw thread was stripped... thank god he didn't have to take out the tranny to repair it. 

セピアの準備は終了。続いてスパイクを増し締め・・・してたらミッションのネジがなめてしまったらしい。ギリギリでミッション降ろすのかあぁぁぁと一瞬重たい空気に包まれたチャボ。しかし、降ろさないで直せたのでホッとした。

もしもーし。じゃなくて。

at #7. Wata buffing some parts at our workshop. the owner of the Camaro turbo is coming from Japan tomorrow to see the project. so Wata wanted to give his best and show it to the owner in its best possible manner :)

チャボにてバフ掛けするWタナベ氏。明日はいよいよ日本からキャマロのオーナーが見にいらっしゃるらしい。それで、できれば現時点でのベストを見てもらいたい、と気合いを入れているWタナベ氏。そういう気持ちは大切だと思う。
