 back to the Yamaha SR 40th anniversary project.

本日は「ヤマハSR40周年勝手に祝っちゃおうプロジェクト第2弾」に思いを集中させる。

shinya is obsessed by wheels, brakes, and tyres. 

やはり足回りが付くとぐんとオートバイらしさが出ますな。おしゃれは足元から。

rebuilding the Triumph sprung hub...

素人が手を出したら必ず痛い目にあう、あのトライアンフのスプラング・ハブに手を出す木村氏。もちろんビワ号のためにリビルトしてくれるのだけど。

he said he had done this before...a long time ago...and so he knows how difficult it is without using that special tool. it's really a dangerous and risky business.

遠い昔に一度やったことがあるから、きっと大丈夫と言いながら。やったことがある方もしくはやろうとしたことがある方ならお分かりかもしれません。これ、ほんとキケン。良い子は絶対に真似しちゃいけません、ちゃんとこれ用の工具持っていない限り。

 and he did it!

dropping off the Aermacchi "Il Drago" at the venue of the OG Moto Show in downtown LA around noon.

お昼頃。ダウンタウンLAのOG Moto Showの会場にアエルマッキを搬入にしに来た。

spotted Woolie's flat tracker and his Pike's Peak machine at the venue. these bikes are built based on the clear purposes and it oozes off from them even they were just parking at the warehouse in downtown LA.

local builders are trying to bring excitement to this local moto event organized by our good friends and people from all over the states are joining. that's very cool.

会場で搬入中のWoolieのフラット・トラッカーと今年のパイクスピークにアタックするマスィンを見つけた。明白な目的を持って作られたマスィンからにじみ出る気迫と、Woolieの想いが伝わってくる。

地元のオートバイイベントを盛り上げようって気持ちで協力しているローカルのビルダー達もいれば、遠くの州から参加するビルダー達もいる、そんなイベント。

came back to the workshop. took the CB750 and the SR400 and headed to downtown LA again in the evening for the OG Moto Show preview night.

いったんチャボに戻って、夕方から王様とSR400で会場に乗り込む。プレビュー・ナイトだって。

苦労をいとわず、どうしてもこのSRに使いたかったスウィング・アーム、加工中。物語はまだまだ続く・・・

rode down to La Carretera Show organized by our friend DV in downtown Los Angeles with SY. shinya took the King, the CB750...

友人が新しく始めたラ・カレッテラ・ショウというイベントがダウンタウンLAであるというので、B級グルメ王と一緒にツーリングがてら来てみた。木村氏は王様で。

 and i took shinya's SR400. 

筆者は木村氏の「SR40周年勝手に祝っちゃおうプロジェクト第1弾」のSR400で。

our friend SY and his wife took the Triumph chopper.

B級グルメ王は奥さまとトライアンフのチョッパーで。

the show was based on the spirit of the 1950s La Carrera Panamericana in Mexico and it featured cars from the '50s, as well as the '60s and '70s. the venue was filled with colorful vintage road racing spirit, great people, great music and great food under the pleasant weather. everything blended well with the downtown LA graffiti mural but at the same time, it made a pretty unique atmosphere that we felt like we were somewhere in a foreign country.

このショーのテーマは1950年代のメキシコ、ラ・カレラ・パンアメリカーナ。集まった乗り物は50年代、60年代、70年代から贈り物、色とりどりのヴィンテージカーやレースカー達。ダウンタウンのグラフィティと妙にマッチして、陽気な音楽とメローな時間が流れる中、いったいどこにいるのか分からなくなる。乗り物も雰囲気も人々もとっても好きなタイプの集まりだった。

we had so much fun!
