if weather is good, today will be a bonus stage. the shorter distance and they can ride through Grand Canyon National Park plus they've got a plenty of time to stay there and enjoy the landscape :) go, go Niimie!!
本日はもしもお天気が良ければ距離も短めの312km、グランドキャニオン国立公園に立ち寄ってゆっくりできるというボーナス・ステージ。いかにも雨が降りそうな雰囲気を紛らわせるために、N美氏にボーナスステージを乗れるなんてラッキーボーイだね、と何度も言う。ロッキー改めラッキーN美、ちょっとラッキーかも・・・とこの時点では一瞬は思ったと思う。シメシメ。

usually support crews take different route from competition riders but today we take some same route so we had to depart ahead in order to not encounter competition riders on the course. photo:shinya

at Grand Canyon National Park. it was raining and foggy but we could see this only a few seconds.
グランドキャニオン国立公園にて。雨ザーザーで霧。何も見えずがっかりしていたら、一瞬だけ霧が切れてこんな景色が出てきた！
and then the full rainbow! shinya and i felt like something good may happen. maybe rain would stop when Niimie gets here.
そしてその一瞬にまさかの虹が！何か良いことありそう。きっとN美氏が通るころには晴れてるかも！なんて木村氏と話していたら・・・
something good did happen to Niimie :) (captured by Paul d'Orleans) when Niimie pulled in to a gas station on the way to Grand Canyon, he was welcomed by many Japanese girls who were traveling across America. other Cannonballers who got there earlier then Niimie told girls that there was a Japanese guy riding a 1915 Indian would be coming in so girls treated him like a rock star! way to go Niimie!! (after this, he got caught in a rain all the way...)
キャノンボーラー達と一緒に移動しながら銀板写真を撮っているミスター・ヴィンテジェントが、グランドキャニオンに向かう途中のガソリンスタンで撮ってくれた途中経過の一枚。旅の途中らしい日本人ガールズに大歓迎されるN美氏。先にスタンドに着いていたキャノンボーラー達がガールズ達にこれから1915年のインディアンに乗った日本人が来るぞなどと色々前情報を流していたらしく、ロックスター並みの人気者。さっき見た虹のラッキーは全部これに行っちゃったのねん。やっぱりラッキーボーイなN美氏。（この後最後までずっと土砂降りで、グランドキャニオンなんて霧に包まれてひとつも見えなかったそうですが、ラッキーはラッキー）
