secret bike, it's done and was delivered...

ok, i had to keep it secret and i still should...oh well, i'll give it a try...shinya had been working on one of the Ducati superbikes and it's finally done!

a couple of years ago he did "bantam", a 2000 model twincam Harley-Davidson for first time, and he has done a couple of newer model sportsters for racing back in those days in japan. but basically, as you know, he specializes in old motorcycles simply because he loves them.

although he feels great respect for superbikes, he wasn't so interested in those modern (when he says modern it means 1990's~2010) bikes because he just couldn't find anything he liked. so he said "i think i will make something i like by myself!" that's how all the customizations and modification started, right?

shinya loves motorcycles and always respects its original designs. that's the basis of his idea and it's going to stay that way no matter what he creates. but it was quite a challenge for him to work on a modern bike with tons of wires and computers. ♪aarrgghhh♪ while he was working on this Ducati, he often said dispiritedly "oh, i miss old motorcycles so much! they are so simple and much friendlier! i can ride, fix, ride, fix, and ride forever!!" but he also said, "i'm glad that i took a chance to work on the modern bike. now i went through and i take great pride in announcing that I LOVE OLD MOTORCYCLES!"

anyway, we delivered the bike to the owners yesterday. they were all happy. the bike will debut next month by the owner so i'd wait to post more details and pictures until then. but here it is. the name of the bike is "EDGE." it's super frightening fast and yes, that's the exhaust.

Very cool. Itll be great to see to whole bike in a month.

Large wire harnesses, hoses & injection are not friendly for a clean bike.

Chris: thank you!

Motorcycle Boy: headache, headache!

Moto.Lux: yeees!

Bastybikes: wow! can't wait to see your work.

Bozi: we just couldn't believe how much sheaf of wires it required to just make it run.

Ryan: thank you! we'll show you the whole bike later.

Yeah - while fuel injection and ECU controlled ignition and what not are great for extracting the utmost performance, a single cable to a carb (or 2, or 3 or more) plus mechanical auto-advance or magneto is so much better.
That said, a Ducati 4 valver + Chabott = excellent!

From the back it definitely has that "Tron" or "Akira"
thing going on.. About the best to be expected from
a modern bike.. I'll guess it premieres @TheQuail..
I hope to see you there?

matt@machine: i'll put more pix pretty soon!

pushrodmofo: thank you. i'm grateful to shinya for not being afraid of a challenge.

david: not so familiar with AKIRA but sure it won't disturb my mind like other modern bikes. we'll be at the Quail, see you around!

Ayu, I guess the generation gap is showing...
"Akira' was first a manga, then an anime maybe 25
years ago. It was probably the first anime that most
of us Americans ever saw. Sci-fi stuff like the Mel Gibson movie "MadMax" but in Tokyo with bosozoku
gangs. Here's the movie poster which gives an idea of what the bikes were like:
