headead east and then north...

to try long long ascent. on the way, we drove during the night so the water temperature was stable. no funny noises nor smells. MPG was surprisingly great　so far, according to our own standard...then we ended up in nevada.

さて、とりあえず東に向かってそれから長い長い上りのある峠を求めて北上、方向的にはネバダに向かう。夜に出発したので水温も安定しているし、異音や異臭騒ぎもなし。私達の基準からすると燃費はかなり良い。今まで燃費なんて気にもせずにアメリカ車に乗ってきたけど、背高食パン号がリッター2キロという、いよいよ気にせずには乗れないほどの燃費の悪さだったので少しだけ気にするようになった。ネバダに着いちゃったので、そこで泊まる。
 

the next day in the mid morning, it got hotter and hotter in the desert. now the van was facing a crucial test.

翌朝、砂漠の真ん中は見る見る気温が上昇。シェヴィヴァンにとってはここからが正念場。

the outside temperature hit triple digit but the water temperature of the van was still pretty stable. way to go, van!

外の気温は華氏で三桁突入。摂氏でいうと38度越え？熱と乾燥で全身が焦げそうになる。でもバンの水温はクール。すごいぞ、バン！

 

stopped at the ghost town in calico. 

途中にあったゴースト・タウンに寄ってみる。平日なのになぜか観光モード。ま、いっか、普段からあまり曜日の感覚ないし・・・

the van had no problem at all so we brought the test ride to an end.

バンはどこまでも絶好調だし、そろそろ帰路につくことにしよう。

found a couple of the NY to LA gumball rally cars on the way back! it was so much fun midweek road trip :D

ニューヨークがスタートでゴールがロサンジェルスのガムボール・ラリーの参加車両を途中で2台ほど見た！シェヴィヴァンも無事帰還、平日のロードトリップはすこぶる楽しかった！
