what shinya did this whole afternoon was...
he kept the side door of the lathe open,
was reading the manual
and reading some giddy looking books about lathe.
a self-advancement time.
i think shinya loves to learn new things or improve his skills. for example, he was a terrible breaststroker and i could easily beat him. (i was on the swim team back in high school) one day, i found shinya watching breaststroke gold medalist Kitajima on youtube and he actually learned and changed his entire form, got the correct pull/kick/breathing technique and now he beats me every time we swim. he's a person with ambitious spirit. or maybe he just couldn't stand losing to me...hehehe

shinya using the lathe...or shinya doing breaststroke?.....i think ill take the "lathe shinya" ...
matt@machine: he does both! he likes to improve on the performance of any kind, i guess :)
what i love on this blog ...is that nobody is doing bussiness , olny having fun and good time :)) enjoing life like gearheads ha... ?
i also thought about , when i saw all that vintage machinery , that shinya is also keeping them running ...
I am sometimes thinking about that old motorcycle factories or wathewer factories from the early 1900 with that very big axle thru the whole workshop ( powered by water like at the old water mill ) and every machine conected to this exle with leather straps ...
Everything powered by mechanic move ....
i would be one of the voluntary in helping building a workshop like that ...
bastybikes....near my house is a very old building on this old old property...very big....and next to it was a small river.....that sometimes flows....i have been in this building and it used to have an old water wheel...turninga big mill...the stone that the mill say on is still there.....and through the building used to run a long axle with many things run off it....including a hoist to the fourth floor in the roof....yes i know what you mean.....perfect...
i need to learn how to do threads on my colchester lathe....i need one new gear i think from my reading...i cant slow the feed down enough...i need to study more.
matt@machine .. that is nice ...so everything alredy exists only needs to get in the proper hands ... that is Usa you find a lot of cool stuff to live/work in ...
Bastybikes & mat@machine: shinya was born into a small factory in downtown tokyo run by his grandfather. he remembers that the big axle went through their factory and all the machines were connected by the leather straps. only it was powered by the motor not the waterwheel but he loved it so much, he said.
