a masked man...




 was polishing all day long...why he doesn't take them to a polisher? "because i know which areas are more delicate and which parts need special care but they don't", shinya said.

つーか誰?完全武装の木村氏、磨き中。どうして磨き屋さんに出さないのかってよく聞かれるけど、どこが薄いとかどこがデリケートだとか、自分なら全部分かってるけど、磨き屋さんには分かりっこないからなんだって。それに、ここまで自分で作ったのに最後のタッチを人の手に託すなんて出来っこない、と。毎回大変だけど、感慨深い作業でもあるそうです。

why to get it to a master polisher ?
I think You would miss all this fun ... also ... I think the reward for the grinding ...is the polishing time !...and the reward for building that part ...is all this time !

He's right about knowing his own work. When I was working in a shop that also had a plating and polishing business, if you wanted something done right you'd do it yourself. Saw too many parts ruined by over-zealous "Gray men" as a friend of mine called the guys in the polishing shop. They wore gray coveralls and were covered with gray polishing compound. And yes, why miss the fun and magic of transforming dull metal?

exactly right....last time i took a rear fender stay to the polisher i forgot to tell him..."be careful here on this part"...he called with bad news...
