does anyone have a deer whistle handy?

our friend A-san who had done paris-dakar rally in '95 to '97 brought us a pair of deer whistles for the cannonball. yes, we'll be traveling through some national parks and forests this year, we just want to let those wild animals know that we are just passing through. but it won't whistle when we're stopping, right? hmmm that will be really scary if they come hurtling toward us when we're resting or fixing our indian.

A deer jumped in front of me at night at Lake Tahoe years ago, apparently was mesmerized by the bikes head light...didn't run off until I turned the light off and yelled at it. Glad my brakes were in order. I've always wondered if those whistles work, could have used one that night. Wouldn't want to hit a deer, or a cow, or a moose...with a bike, might dent your fender...
