dogged dedication...

we will take a longer canyon route today to test our 1915 Indian.

本日は長めの山脈コースでインディアンをテストする。

it runs up hills in a steady rhythm.

上りも一定のリズムを刻んで軽快に走るインディアン。

 devours our favorite ridge road.

幻のターチ―ロードもぐんぐん上る。

 go to the other side of the mountain without any problems.

問題なく山の反対側まで来た。

 now shinya's turn.

ここからは木村氏の操縦。

 came back to the workshop in one piece.

 無事チャボに戻る。

 but it didn't stop them from making it better :)

しかし、まだまだ。もっと良くなるはず、とゴニョゴニョやり始める木村氏とN美氏。

そして、まさかの2ラウンド目に出発。

 took a different route this time.

ちょっとコースを変えて。

 THIS IS IT! they said.

ついにキタァァァ・・・らしい。

 now shinya's simulating to change inner tube on the side of the road. we haven't had any tyre problems throughout all three Cannonballs though many Cannonballers did struggle with flat tyres during the race. "maybe this time we may have one or two flat tyres..." shinya says. 

おもむろに道端でパンクした時のチューブ交換の練習を始める木村氏。多くのキャノンボーラー達がパンクに悩まされていた中、奇跡的に3回ともタイヤの問題のなかったチーム８０。でも、そろそろ来るかもしれない。

and so shinya decided to practice. since our Indian is at its best condition now, he doesn't want to miss any miles just for a flat tyre. "it will be too embarrassed to face the Indian," he said.

せっかくインディアンの調子が良いのだから、パンクなんかで1マイルでもミスしたらインディアンに申し訳ない。やっておけば本番でも出来る。そんなことをブツブツ言いながら・・・

i'm deeply touched by his love for the machine ...

なんか泣ける。インディアンに対する想いとか、きっと木村氏とN美氏にしか分からないたくさんの想いがあるんだろうな。
