Niimie came back with a file cabinet in the trunk of the duster. he said he found it at the local thrift store.

N美氏がW辺夫妻のハネモネダスターでフラリと出かけて行ったかと思ったら、トランクから何かはみ出させて戻ってきた。スリフトの大セールでファイルキャビネットを見つけたって・・・にしても、もう充分安いスリフトの更に大セールってラッキーにも程がある!

こんなオサレなサイン、アズサで見たことないずら。チャボの裏の道で発見。あ、ズラってそっちのヅラじゃございませんよ。←とある特定のお方へのメッセージでございます、OジリジリO氏へ捧ぐ。

very tastefully furnished garage, still can't believe it's in azusa. the owner J is a cool guy. they were having this shop sale to get rid some of their nice vintage belongings to make more space for them to work on their projects.

うーん、ちっともアズサっぽくないぞ。こんなオサレなショップがあったなんて、しかも歩いて行ける近所に。別にアンティーク屋さんって訳じゃなくてJのガレージなんだけど、スペースを作る為にこの週末持ち物を売ることにしたみたい。拾ったり、取り壊しの建物から安く譲ってもらったりした材料で、とてもセンスの良いガレージになっていた。今度もっと写真撮らせてもらおう。

the cannonball co-rider Niimie is here from japan. this time, for the bonneville speedweek. as soon as he got here shinya and Niimie started to talk enthusiastically about old machines. how beautiful they are, how heavy they are, they are so deep, there is always more to learn, etc. and reading those books about lathe and mill. so otaku.

Jam'zのN美氏が登場。今年はキャノンボールではなくボンネビル見学。開けてはいけない扉をとうとう開けてしまうのね。チャボに着くなり古い機械がどんだけ美しいか、重いけど愛しい、機械は奥が深い、底なし沼だ、あーだこーだと楽しそうに話すお二人。そして、フライス盤や旋盤の専門書を読みながらあーだこーだ。これってどう見たって高校生が熱心にエロの本見ながらエロの話に熱中している姿とかぶりませんか？オタクもここまでくるとエロスですな。

shinya's intent on reading this book these days...the book had a belly band said: simple - sound - extraordinary - complicated. hmmm...simple but complicated...sounds very familiar.

木村氏が最近熱中して読んでいる本、勝利のエンジン50選。帯には「簡素。堅実。奇抜。複雑。」と書いてあり、「古今東西の優れたレーシングエンジンを通して、開発者の姿や高性能エンジンの技術史が見えてくる。」とある。なるほど。

 i asked shinya which one was his favorite and he said he must choose honda for several reasons but...

木村氏の一番お気に入りはどれかと尋ねたら、「まあ、ホンダは外せないんだけども・・・」
 

he loves 1949 cisitalia...then he started to flip every pages and explained all the characteristics of each engine. otaku.

「でもシシタリアもいいんだよねー、見て見てこれ。」そしてどんどんページをめくって、色んなエンジンの特性などを語り始める。しゃべり方もどんどんオタクっぽくなっていく木村氏・・・こわひ。好きなんだね、速いエンジン。

arias, wiseco, and generic pistons for the Spike. each has different specs. we can work it out if we forget to bring the tent but not those pistons...

アリアス、ワイセコ、無印もの、全部仕様が違うピストンでございます。ボンネビル・スパイク用。テント忘れてもナントカなりますが、色んなピストン持って行かなかったらナントカならないどころか行く甲斐が無いってもの。

old used heavy compressor will last forever...

the portable compressor that we used to have is now at Kai's (the little motocross racer). so we found another one for us on the local classified. very much in preparation for the speedweek.

ボンネビルに向けて準備中。そう言えば今まで使っていたレース用コンプレッサーは、ちびっ子モトクロスレーサー・カイノスケの所へ旅立ったので、チャボ用を新調。新調と言ってももちろん中古。昔のものは重め。けど大事にすれば一生使える。すぐに新しいものに飛びつかずに、大切に直しながらずーーーっと使う。最新のテクノロジーが凄いのは分かるけど、そんなに便利を追いかける必要性を感じないかも。ちょっとぐらい不便が丁度いい。あ、このコンプレッサーはひとつも不便はないけど！

最近ちょっとレトロなヴァンに乗ることがお洒落ヤングに注目されてませんか？だけどどうしてチャボ・ヴァンは仲間に入れてもらえないの？レトロが中途半端だから？（89年式）それともボディがロングだからなの？チャボがカリフォルニアで開業して以来ずーーっとヴァンニングしてまっせ。こんなに可愛がってるんだから！でもこれで決定的にお洒落ヤングから離れたな。イエイ。
