early spring cleaning...

 took all the shinya's collection out

for cleaning...

大掃除。日本では年末に、アメリカでは春に。

どっちつかずですが、とりあえず木村氏のコレクションを外に出す。

 can't believe that all these were

actually came out from that tiny workshop.

どのようにしてこれだけのものがチャボに収まっていたのか、

謎は深まるばかり・・・

 some people suggest us to get a bigger 

place but guess we are so good at 

utilizing small spaces to the full.

it's just so fun. like solving puzzles.

we want to stay here forever!

もっと広いところに移れば？とたまに言われますが、

狭い場所を上手に使うことの楽しさは何ものにも変えがたい。

島国日本人の工夫の見せどころ。

 i told shinya that i found this little toy

that i gave him long time ago from a space 

between shelf and wall,

ずっと昔に木村氏にあげたおもちゃが壁と棚の隙間から

出てきたことを告げると、

he said...

"oh, i've been looking all over for it!yay!"

no, you haven't. but it's alright. 

it's all right.

やっべーという顔で、

「あ、それずーっと探してたんだよねー、良かったあ！」 と。

別にいいんですよ、別にね。

 

2011 first catch...

 the first swap meet of this year

ちょいと出遅れ、今年初のスワップミート@近所

we did "10-dollar rally".

shinya got 2 boxes and a pair of shoes

for 10 and i got a pair of hanging lamps

for 10. guess we made a good find or two :)

10ドルラリーを決行。10ドルで箱2つと靴を手に入れた木村氏。

対するわたくしは、ガラスの吊る下げランプを10ドルで。

アイテム数で挑んでくるとはな・・・

ま、幸先の良いスタートと相成りました。

5 strips of bacon after 10 pm put shinya out of action...

 went to see the photographer Michael Lichter

in downtown la.  he was setting up his booth

at the LA convention center for the easyriders show

and let us sneak into the venue.

Michael and we spent 16 days together

during the cannonball rally so it was great

to see him again and share all the good memories:)

写真家のマイケル・リクターがLAのコンベンションセンターで週末開かれる

イージーライダースのショウにブースを出すため、コロラドからLAに来ている

というので準備中の会場まで会いに行った。キャノンボールで16日間を

共に過ごして以来の再会なので、懐かしい話で盛り上がる。

ショウに出す訳でもないのに会場を物色。

they serve breakfast all day.

夜になってしまったので、1日中朝食メニューを頼めるダウンタウンの

老舗のカフェへ。軽いものにしよう、夜遅いから。

 shinya wanted to eat something light

so he did...

で頼んだ朝食にベーコンが5本も敷き詰めてあって、

すっかり意気消沈の木村氏。

apple pie a la mode is always a light meal

for me.

こういう時はどこへ行ってもアップルパイ・ア・ラ・モードを頼むに限る。

軽いモノにすると断言していた向かいの席の木村氏、

ベーコンの山＋卵＋こんもりハッシュド・ポテト、トーストにスープ・・・

それって・・・はっきり言って普通のディナーより重いよ。

 our friend N got this ford maverick "grabber"

友達のNがマーベリックのグラバーを手に入れたらしい。

らしい、というか見せに来てくれた。

i'm so jealous...

and kinda miss my pinto...

強烈に羨ましいのであーる。
そしてなぜだかピントが恋しいのであーる。

parts picking

just got the rain drip rails for my duster out of a dead duster in the graveyard! I don't have to be afraid of rain any more!! shinya is checking wheels for his cortina...no luck so far...

たった今、解体屋で奇跡的にダスターの死骸を発見!さらに奇跡的に屋根のモールを発見!もう雨なんて怖くない、カモン、雨! こういう所で写真撮るとめちゃくちゃ怒られるから、コルチナのホイールを探す木村氏をこっそり携帯で激写。びびり。

the first machine of the new year...

 a honing machine!

初買い、初機械、三が日中に入手。ホーニング・マシン

shinya has been looking for a honing machine

since he saw it at our friend K's shop,

ventura motorworks.

ventura motorworks　のKの所で見て以来、

ずっと探していたもの。掘り出し成功!

with lots of extras :)

オマケもいっぱい付いてきた、イエイ！

 it rained again on the 2nd.

none of our cars were raintight.

so we tried Niimie's new van,'69 ford.

 2日の日はまたも雨。

持っている全ての車が雨に弱い木村氏は、

某氏が最近手に入れチャボに放置してあるバンを試してみることに。

 the motor is sticking out too much...

エンジンが中に出っ張りすぎていて・・・

the passenger's seat is so tight :)

助手席がちょー狭い。笑えるくらいに。
でも、そこが可愛い。雨でも快調です、jam'z van！

晦日にコルチナのタイヤに刺さった釘を抜く作業から始まる。

本当に幸先が良い。

 it wasn't even a nail

釘なんてもんじゃなかった。

a drill bit!

え！ドリルビット、刺さる普通？

 it went through and hit the wheel...

貫通してホイールの内側にヒット・・・

 found the tip inside the tire

how lucky!

 先っちょはタイヤの中から摘出

普通の道を走っていてこんな大物が運良く刺さるなんて、

相当良い年になりそうな予感！
