tracing it back through history...

after heavy rains last night, today was one fine winter day. rain and rain clouds had to all appearances vanished from the sky. but no, it wasn't like that. we had rain off and on, the canyon was palled with dark cloud which hang low.

昨夜の激しい雨に洗われて緑は鮮やかになり、冬の美しい日差しが広がって・・・いるように見えますが、雨が降ったり止んだり、山は真っ黒な雨雲に包まれているのです。

so we just did some test rides around the workshop. no canyon ride today. maybe tomorrow.

あの雲じゃ今日は山に乗りに行けないよ、と言いながらテストライドと称してSRで近所を乗り回す木村氏。ずるい！

 

shinya said to me, "hey, i reduced duster's weight!" wow, thanks! and i saw these rather large parts lying on the ground... wondering... don't we really need them? (one is an old fuel pump that he replaced with a new but, other two?) anyway, it runs silky-smooth now.

オートバイに乗れずにふくれていたら、「ダスター軽くしてあげたよ！」と木村氏。わーい嬉しい・・・あれ？割と大きなパーツが地面にゴロンと・・・ひとつは新しいのと交換してくれた古いフューエル・ポンプだけど、ほかの大きなもの・・・取っちゃって大丈夫？と少し不安になる。でも乗ってみたら絹のように走るので、やっぱりいらなかったんだ。軽量化、わーい！

こういう時だけ几帳面なのが不思議。

measuring piston size and clearances. shinya says he really enjoys this procedure because it tells not only the sizes but more behind the scenes story and history of the motorcycle.

ベーエンヴェーのピストンとピストン・クリアランスを計測する木村氏。この作業がとても好きらしい。ただ数字が出るだけでなく、今までこのオートバイにどのような手が加えられていたのか、どんな風に乗られていたのか、などの歴史を紐解くことができて面白いからだそうです。
