「ザ・ハーレーデーヴィットソン・マン」とうたっているのに、モデルの男性はひとつもハーレーっぽくない、と、雑誌の切り抜きに落書きをする木村氏。ヒゲボーボーのアフロヘアに変身。

勝手にSR40周年を祝っちゃおうプロジェクト。

shinya knows that the seat will be black so he temporarily painted the seat section in black so that he can decide on the colors for other parts.

今のところシートは黒に決めている木村氏。他の部分の色をどうするかはまだ決めていないので、考えやすくするためにとりあえずシート部分を黒く塗ってみる。

the excelsior is heading for Sturgis for Michael Lichter's "naked truth" exhibition at Buffalo Chips. 

"this exhibition will pay bare the raw talent of 35 world-renowned bike builders. each of these rolling metal sculptures will be displayed exposed and naked, unencumbered by paint and graphics, atop elevated pedestals to better give guests an open view from every angle. 'naked truth' is free to the public and will be open from saturday, aug. 1st through friday, aug. 7th in the Buffalo Chip's Russ Brown Events Center."

エクセルシアはこれからスタージスに向かい、写真家マイケル・リクター氏のエキシビション、"naked truth"にて8月1日から一週間展示されます。タイトル通り、ペイントやグラフィックを施す前のメタル・コンシャスなハダカの作品が35台集まるそうです。

お察しください。

the engine did stall again on the way back from the beach last night. it comes back right a way and it runs smooth but we just can't figure out the cause of this quiet stall. so they tried a different stuff.

昨夜海からの帰り道、残念ながらまた謎の症状出ました。走りにはまったく問題はないのですが、この謎の症状の原因が分からないままにしておけないお二人。別の可能性を探る。

 decided to go for another test drive to Sun Valley (there is a huge metal supply place there). got the symptom in Pasadena and, this time, it completely stopped. wouldn't start again.

今度こそ。再びテスト・ドライブ。少し離れた町の鋼材屋を目指す。が、パサデナですでに謎の症状が出た。しかも今回は完全に止まってしまってなかなかエンヂンが掛からない。

 it was a really hot day and no shade...

とても暑い日で影もないところだったので・・・

so we called the AAA, decided to tow it back to Azusa and then work on it. however, "towing" already brings them a sense of humiliation, the young tow truck driver pour fuel on top of it.　"what's wrong with your van? you guys are mechanics and can't fix it, ha? let me look at it!"

AAA（JAFみたいなの）を呼んでとりあえずアズサに戻ってから考えようということになったはずなのに、レッカー車が来てもなかなか諦めない木村氏とWタナベ氏。レッカーされるだけでも屈辱なのに、レッカー車を運転してきたあんちゃんに「何が問題なんだい？あれ、お前達メカニックなの？なのに、直せないの？俺が見てやるよ！」と言われたからなんですけど・・・

their tenacity won. the engine came back and seemed like it could make it back to Azusa. so shinya and Wata thank the driver and said goodbye to him... 

you know they are very good mechanics specialized in old cars not in modern cars (2000 is super modern to us) with fuel injections and computers. they tried everything they could think of and then went over the computer analyzer, too. even the computer couldn't tell what was wrong so, don't tell them they suck :D

執念です。とりあえずエンヂン掛かりました。なので、あんちゃんにお礼を言ってレッカー車はお引取り願いました。自力でアズサに戻ることに。

一応・・・彼らは旧い車を得意とする良いメカニックなんです。フュエル・インジェクションでコンピュータ満載のモダン（我々にとって2000年式は超モダン）な車は専門外なんです。なので、最初に分かる範囲で色々やってくれて、それでも解決しないのでコンピュータ診断機にもかけたのですが、何の異常もみられず。←今ココ　これは キャブ車好き vs. インジェクション車　そして、アナログ派人間 vs.　コンピュータとの戦いなのです。

so it rained all night but it stopped in the morning. niimie went to check Pomona swap meet again and back with some tools.

夜中激しい雨が降っていたけど朝には止んだ。予報は大ハズレ。で、ポモナのスワップミートを一応覗きに行ったN美氏は、ツールを手に入れて戻って来た。

N: "i got this and this... and this and this!"

S: "wow, that's so cool! oh, that's a nice one!"

N美氏：「えーと、これと、これと、あとこれも！」入手したツールを並べ出すN美氏。

K村氏：「おー、いーねー。あ、それいいよねー。」と、N美氏のツールに見入るK村氏。

ツールオタク的会話は続くよ、どこまでも・・・
