reliability run...

our friend S and his friend stopped by 

(during the run?) to let us know 

about the reliability run in pasadena.

お祖父さんの代から続けて、ホットロッダーの友達Sが

リライアビリティー・ランというのがパサデナであるよ、と

そのランの途中でチャボに寄って教えてくれた。

the reliability run started in 1947

hosted by Pasadena Roadster Club and

held until 1950. the club disbanded but 

revived in 2002 and the reliability run 

restarted in 2004. they retracing the same route 

as in 1947 run!!

このリライアビリティー・ランは1947年に始まり50年まで

パサデナ・ロードスター・クラブが開催していたもので、

その後クラブが解散してランもなくなってしまったのが、

2002年にクラブ再結成に伴い、2004年から再びランが始まり

1947年の時と同じルートで毎年100台近くが集まって、

（一応タイムを競いながら）走っているのだそうです。

走りまくっている姿を見れます。

and still, so many of them were gathering.

just amazing!

ファイバーグラスはダメ、シェビーの350もダメ、

厳密にアーリー・スタイル・ロードスターのみ。

と言っても、これだけ集まるのがすごい！

we can relate to this kind of scene

very easily.

現場修理は当たり前ですね、こういう状況には

簡単に感情移入できます。

just amazing to see people, young and old, 

play around and ride around 

with their old beauties.

but...in 1947, people brought in their

brand new or quite new cars, right?

hmmm...handing down of traditions...　

what can we hand down from our own time

to the next generation?

1947年に、当時の新車や5年落ちの車で集まって走ってたなんて、

そんでもって、今でも同じことして遊んでるだなんて、

ずーっとずーっとこうやって遊んできている人達のいる文化、

やっぱりすごい。おじいちゃん・おばあちゃんも居ればその子供、

その子供の子供も同じ会場で楽しんでいる。

こうやってこれからも続いていくのでしょう。流行とかじゃないですから。

真似したくたって出来るものではありません。
