our friend Wata got so excited because he's ten steps closer to his long-held dream, to be participate in land speed racing with the 280Z that he's working on now, and just being on the lake bed is adrenaline-pumping for him.

さて、長年の夢である「ランド・スピード・レーシング用のレースカーを作ってレースする！」に最近10歩も20歩も近づいているWタナベ氏は、ドライレークの上に立ってるだけでもすでにアドレナリンが出まくっちゃってるそうで、大興奮です。いやですねえ、ちょっと、落ち着いてくださいよ。

いよいよ一走目！

111mph. shinya said he wimped out because it was his first run in a while plus the course condition wasn't great today. when it comes to racing, there is no "next" you have to do your best at that moment. however, we are doing this for fun so i don't want him to fly off the handle. so 111mph is okay.

111マイル（179キロ）。久しぶりなのとコースのコンディションがあまり良くないのとで、ちょっぴり怯んでしまったらしい。レースって「その時」が全てで「次」なんてないもの。でも、楽しんで遊んでいる身の我々にとって、無理は禁物です。無事ならまた「次」を楽しめるし。

he found the distributor screw was loose and the ignition timing was retarded. it was stripped so he wired it for a temp treatment for now.

デスビのネジが回って点火タイミングがずれているのを発見。ねじ山がなめてしまっていたので、得意のワイヤーで取り急ぎ応急処置。

the course condition was terrible so the officials had to move the course. when the new course opened, there were many people still waiting for their first pass. we just waited and waited for the second pass chatting with other racers...

コースのコンディションが良くないので、途中でコースをずらすために1時間以上中断。シーズン最後とあって参加者が多いため、その後全員が一走目を走り終えるまでかなり待つ。色んな人達とおしゃべりしながら待つのはそんなに苦ではない。

unfortunately, the race was over before we got a chance to run for the second pass... bummer!! well, luckily it was two-day meet so if today will not, tomorrow may ;p

が！2走目の順番を待っている間にレース終了・・・初めての経験！ま、ラッキーなことに明日もあるので、文句はなし。

で、チャボに戻って応急処置だったデスビのネジを換えてちゃんと直して明日に備えることに。
