 1915 Indian. prepping for the Pre-1917 Cannonball, The Race of the Century. our Indian was one of the oldest machine last time but this time, it belongs to the "young" group :)

1915年式インディアン。キャノンボールの準備。今年は参加車両全部100歳以上。前回は最年長のうちの一台だったチーム80のインディアンは101歳なので今回はヤングな部類に入る。しっかり走るぞ！

the first guest of the new year were our friend HK and his family and friend from Japan. our special stage was too high but his wife sang for us. thank you!

今年の最初のゲストはハセケン氏。ちょいと高すぎるチャボ特設ステージで奥様がギターを弾き語ってくださいました。ありがとうございました！

riding 1975 plymouth duster in 2016...

my duster. it runs better than ever but gets harder than ever to put my key in the ignition. i've been carrying a tiny screwdriver and WD-40 to clear the pins jamming inside the ignition lock cylinder. after i do that, the key goes in so it wasn't a big deal but now i have to do that every time and every time it makes me look like a auto thief. now, out of pity, shinya will fix that for me ;)

筆者のダスターでございます。調子はすこぶる良いのでありますが、最近キーが鍵穴に入らなくなってきまして。（ここからは筆者の想像）ロック・シリンダーの中の通常はどこかに収まっているピン的なものが出ちゃったままになって鍵が挿せない感じ。まずは鍵穴に油を差して細い棒でガチャガチャやってから鍵を挿す、という自分の車なのに車泥棒のようなコソコソ感。「たまになる」から「毎回なる」になり、買い物を終えて店から出てきて旧い車に乗り込み、ピッキングよろしくガチャガチャやっている、そんなご婦人見たことありますか？つらいんですよ。という話をしたら気の毒に思ってくれた木村氏が、直してくれると言います。

けっこう大変な作業・・・でも無事直してもらい、かなり嬉しい。ありがとうございます！

shinya's grinding station is now under the tea room. now the whole workshop looks new and different.

削りコーナーの上が空中茶室になったので、囲まれ感がさらに増しました。そして茶室が加わっただけなのに、チャボの雰囲気がかなり変わって新鮮。

 start the new year feeling fresh.

さ、気持ちも新たにさっそく仕事初め。

 making the handlebar of the Silent Forester higher and wider to make it fit to the owner's physique and riding style.

ナッコーのハンドルをオーナーのサイズと乗る姿勢に合わせて少し高くワイドに手直し。

it just turned 2016 here on the west coast...

and here we are still at the workshop, our favorite place on the earth :) shinya starts to greet each and every motorcycle in the shop.

世界で一番お気に入りの場所でもあるチャボにて、日付が変わり2016年がやってまいりました。一台一台のオートバイを点検し始める木村氏。

and enjoys his new tea room in the air :)

そして新しい空中茶室を堪能する木村氏。最高な新年の迎え方ですな。
