day 4...

niimie is making a carrier

shinya does the wiring

and the tail/brake light

put an extra tool box on the carrier

looks good
and i don't know why i keep blurring
the license plate...oh,well.

share your knowledge and skills...

our cannonball camp training day 4 started with a great encounter. M, a.k.a. rockford, a great machinist and whom we admire very much, he stopped by and shared some useful mill machining tips with us.

he drove all the way from vegas,
where he had a conference, just to see us.
and he was going back to mid-west right next day.

he brought some special tools to show us
and to give us some great tips.

shinya and niimie kept their ears open
for what M was telling.

if you like to become a great machinist you have to:
  1. have knowledge and skills
  2. gain experience
  3. use the right and good tools and machines
but what we found out today was this. the true machinist will be humble and shares his knowledge and skills freely with others just like M. thank you M and it was a pleasure to meet you in person again. hope to see you soon.

azusa rocky mountains... day 3 part 2

since pomona round trip was an easy 30-mile ride, shinya and neemie had decided to try the best ever condition indian on the azusa canyon road. it starts from azusa, some windings, and ends in glendora. approx 33 miles, max elevation around 3000 feet. need to simulate the rocky mountains, they said.

up hill, no problem

 adjusting

added 30 more miles... day 3 part 1

shinya rode the indian to pomona

about 15 miles run, no problem
N and i took the van, just in case.

tools in the tool box

 adjusting here and there

 still adjusting

now N's turn to go back 15 miles to the workshop

 great cornering

 great smile

 crossing the railroad, no problem

 it blends with the surroundings

 what is that?!
oh, it's just a 1915 indian.

 go N, go!
did beat the modern bike!
N simulates the race situation :)

every journey begins with a single step... day 1

shinya rode the indian to about 5 miles
away from our workshop.
the longest ride so far.
 no trouble at all.

on the way back. N was riding.
another 5 miles.

N's face tells all.

 me in the mirror

the evaluation meeting after the 10-mile ride.

they will be riding ave.of 250 miles per day
during the race.

it's just like 25x more of today's run
per day. it's a doddle, right?

with a proud voice shinya explained N
how far he was up to.

eventually... they started to read books
called "Honda Motorcycle Racing Legend"
vol.1 and vol.2
